We were all excited to be visiting Banff National Park, Alberta for a full 6 days! There was so much to do and it would also give us some downtime. Banff is a unique National Park to those we have visited in the past as the large and busy town of Banff is actually within Banff National Park boundaries.

We have been to a handful of US national parks but Kootenay National Park, British Colombia was our first in Canada and there were some definite differences. The scenery was beautiful! The folks that live in those parts are given a high bar for other places to match.

After a long travel afternoon the previous day we landed at Bonners Ferry “Boundary County Fairgrounds”. We were able to camp there for the night for free (allowed for up to 72 hours). It was actually a really neat place!

And, we’re OFF! Our goal was to be on the road by 9am to be at our campsite by 5:30pm for dinner. This time frame accounted for the multiple stops we were making along the way. I am happy to announce that we were on the road by 8:45am and to our campsite by 5:30pm and this was with quite a big hic-up in the plans.

Our girls have gone above and beyond these past 6 months making every small holiday into a giant, well planned celebration. Valentine’s Day was never a holiday I cared for much but the girls made it quite special for us this year. We also finished up our history lesson on the Hopi people so we had another special school celebration as well.
